Recently, I read an article in Katie Couric Media that got me thinking. It was talking about how we can gain energy throughout our day. Last month, I talked about how our phones suck our energy and give us these quick hits of dopamine and how it’s important to break away from them and get back to natural highs to get motivated for our day. Ironically, after I sent out the newsletter, I opened Katie’s article, and it got me thinking even further.
Essentially, her article talked about taking exercise breaks but calling them snacks. Then I thought, what else could be a snack to raise our energy throughout the day? I see the problem as people go through their days back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back without taking any breaks.
Many of you are not even eating lunch (which has never been my problem, ha). At any rate, there are many things that we could do to raise our levels of energy, and our endorphins, or get a dopamine hit throughout the day.
First, I would love for you to consider what drains your energy.
Are you feeling like your wheels are spinning and unsure how your actions are making a difference in your business?
Are you feeling disconnected from your purpose?
Do you feel like you’re not progressing as fast as you would like?
Are you procrastinating?
Are you overscheduling yourself, leaving no time for self-care or to grow your business?
Any way that you slice it, something is sucking your energy.
Before I talk through the SNACK breaks you can take to get you back up and running, I want to mention my three-day Results Unleashed event. If you feel disconnected from your business, like you are going in circles, or not making progress, these three days could change everything. You will leave invigorated, and ready to focus on your business. But more than that, you’ll be ready and able to focus on the right things in your business that will move the needle significantly. These three days will help you make sure that you are focused on the right problems, help you find a solution, and then guide you into implementing the solution. The other thing that sets this event apart is that I will also teach you how to create the space you need to work on and grow your business by implementing the ideas you had. Register now and join me April 30th- May 2nd. Don’t delay. I cannot stress how much of a difference this event will make for you and your business. Let’s do this together.
Now, on to your snack breaks! Here are some ideas for your day:
🏃🏽♂️Exercise Snack
An exercise snack does not have to be complicated. It can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes and can be done right next to your desk. What if you did 15 seconds of jumping jacks or danced to one song on your phone or another device? What if you went up and down your stairs three times? All these things will raise your endorphins and get you ready for the next thing on your list or calendar. Whatever might work for you to get your body moving, is an exercise snack. Even just walking around the block.
☀️ Sunshine Snack
A sunshine snack is just like it sounds. Go outside and raise your face to the sun and absorb some rays for one to two minutes. You will be amazed at how you fill up just feeling that sun on your face. Plus, vitamin D is a bonus!
🧘🏽♂️ Breathing Snack
A breath snack is the last one that could truly make a difference. This one is all about turning off noise and simply breathing. In the past, you may have heard me talk about one minute of calm period. This means you turn off all the noise, put all devices away from you, and sit with your eyes closed, breathing, for one minute. You could even have this built up to 10 minutes. You will come back with clarity and feel super refreshed. The other thing you could do is sit and take 5 breaths in a row breathing in for a count of five, holding for a count of five, and breathing out for a count of five.
🍎 Of course, you could always eat a snack! But that seems way, way too obvious, and something you should be doing already!
