Many of you who have heard me speak or been to any of my events in the past have heard me talk about being in the courage zone so that you can grow the way you want to grow and do things the way you’ve never done them before.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately and discovered the way that I’ve been doing things is no longer working for me. I found myself talking about this with my coach several weeks ago and making some shifts in how I am going about the future of my business. For me, this courage zone lies largely in silence. I am leaving myself a lot of space and quiet to let things unfold and to figure out what is next for me in my business rather than trying to make things happen. My whole life has been about practice and implementation and making myself better by doing these things. Therefore, stepping out of the comfort of MAKING THINGS HAPPEN and having the courage to be still and to let things come to me is a challenge. Not to mention super uncomfortable.
I want you to think about your business in a way you’ve never thought about it before. What could you do differently that would be out of the norm for you and would shake things up to the point of being so uncomfortable that the only thing that could happen is growth?
Over the last several months I’ve also been talking to a lot of my closest advisors about turning up the fire and my passion for my business. Through these conversations I’ve had a lot of guidance around journaling, listening, and asking questions. As a result of all my work, I wanted to share a few of the things that have worked for me. To fall in love with your business again and to have everything feel a little bit lighter is possibly one of the most exciting, empowering things that could happen. I’m finding what’s in my courage zone and I’m also learning how to tap into it more often in new ways.
Here are some things to practice in order to discover what is in your courage zone. Do you have the courage to try?
The Power of Silence
Take a step away and really listen to what your business may have been telling you lately. What hasn’t been working the way you want it to or the way it used to? This year, I have reimagined both my three-day event and my UNSTUCK flagship program. The only way these things were possible was because of the listening I did to myself, the signals being sent to me, and asking questions.
Falling in Love with Your Business Again
We get so caught up in the day to day of doing things and how we’ve always done them, that many times, our business loses its luster for us. Journal throughout your day about what you’re doing and how you feel as you’re about to do it or after you finish an activity or task. As I did this over a couple weeks’ time, I was amazed at what I found. I thought I knew what I loved and what energized me, but I found even more information through the process. Keeping this type of record of your energy as related to different aspects of your business can elevate your thinking and move you in a direction of feeling excited about your business.
Discovering Your Courage Zone
Practice some visualizing or journaling where you dig into what you love or what you would love to do or for your business to look like. And don’t worry about the HOW because that’s where we get stuck much of the time. Ask yourself what you desire your business, your days, your clients to look like and feel like. What would really light you up? And ask yourself questions to help you get to what could be different and what would you REALLY love. As I said above, these types of exercises have helped me immensely.
