5 Tips to Feel Accomplished Before Your Day Begins
How many of you start out your day jumping on e-mail, getting your kid ready and off to school, and jump right in to work? How many of you WISH that you had some time to do something for yourself— even a quiet cup of coffee to sit over and think, meditate, or space out? Time to exercise? Time to just not rush? How many of you keep HOPING that the time for these things will somehow appear?
Even I, the efficiency and productivity expert struggles with these things at times. So, I decided to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT and change my time. The last month has been incredible—life changing even. I know this seems drastic, but it has. I started off the year deciding I would wake up 15 minutes earlier every day and read a chapter in a business/personal development book. In January alone, I read two books! And I feel inspired. Ironically, the second book I read was The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book is a game changer. In the first 10 pages, Elrod quotes Jim Rohn. Listen to this carefully! “Your level of success will rarely exceed your level of personal development because success is something you attract by the person you become.” Literally, because I am investing 15 minutes a day into reading for my business and for myself, things are growing and changing for me.
Since I launched my business, I have been suggesting to clients, audiences, and whoever will listen to me to take their morning back. If you don’t, you will run out of time and burn out faster than you can snap your fingers. The Miracle Morning has a formula in it that is fantastic—read it and see if it will work for you. In the meantime, here is mine:
- Wake up 30 minutes earlier in your day and USE it for YOU.
- Read or listen to a podcast for 15 minutes something you’ve been wanting to get to. Me, I’m a reader by nature. I like the quiet.
- Pour a cup of coffee or tea and just SIT. Be quiet. Let your thoughts come! Take 5.
- Take 5 minutes to sit with your day ahead and make your to-do list, prioritizing your BIG 3
- Need to exercise ? Take the last 5 and do 50 squats, 50 push ups and 50 sit-ups (or however many you decide). With that heart rate up, you’re now ready to go!
I know this formula is quite simple. I also know it works. I also know you are RESISTING waking up 30 minutes early. Try it for 2 weeks. THEN make your judgment. TRY IT! TAKE THE MORNING BACK, and you may just find YOU. Good luck! And enjoy. Really. And if you go a step further and read the book, you may find yourself getting up an hour early and doing even more. I dare ya.
